Oregon Coast

Distance: 5 Miles

Elevation: 1700 feet

Where: Oregon Coast

How to get there:

Take Route 26 West from Portland. Head south past Cannon Beach 14 miles to Oswald West State Park. You can start this hike from the campground at Oswald West, or for a shorter hike (5 miles RT) from a pulloff on the west side of Highway 101 a mile or so south of the Oswald parking areas.

Add 2.6 miles RT to this hike if you start from the campground.

Neahkahnie Mountain

If you have only one day and can only do one hike on the northern Oregon coast, this is the one to do. Neahkahnie Mountain gives you a bird's eye view of the coast like no other hike in this part of Oregon and at 5 miles round trip, you can do it and still have time for fun at the surfer beach just down the road at Oswald West State Park. The view from the rocky summit of Neakhanie Mountain.

Looking west along the summit.

That's Cape Falcon (another great hike!) in the distance. The sheltered cove is
home to Oswald West State Park.

The views as you start up the trail from highway 101 aren't too shabby either!
