Tom, Dick and Harry
and Mirror Lake

This popular hike has it all - wildflowers, mountain lakes and spectacular views of Mt. Hood and the Cascades.

The trail begins in shady woods and switchbacks up through the cool forest for 1.5 miles to Mirror Lake. You can camp here ro go for a swim. For hikers wanting a short trip, this make a great turnaround.

From Mirror Lake, you'll follow a ridge with sweeping views of Mt. Hood and the valley below. In spring and early summer, the sides of the trail will be covered in wildflowers.

Enter woods and prepare to switch back when you come to the huge pile of stones. The trail climbs through open forest with rhododendhren lining the trail (below) before reaching the rocky summit of Tom, Dick and Harry with 360 views. That's Mirror Lake down below in the photo at right.

You can do this hike in winter too. Here's a link to photos taken in January.
To get there, follow Route 26 east from Portland. After passing through the town of ZigZag, the road climbs toward Govt. Camp. Look for a large parking area on the right as the highway curves left and eastward. If you reach Govt. Camp, you've passed it!
